Here in Europe SMS is a hit with teens on a budget, since it's cheaper to send a text message than having a voice conversation. Thus, a majority of SMS are sent by prepaid customers. Check GSM World for more on this topic.

SMS is hardly used by business people, so this article (and possibly US wireless companies) are missing the point. I'm sometimes amazed by the little amount of research journalists will do. Quoting a guy from Toyota who spent 6 months in Japan is the best insight she could get?
