Making a good directory
"Making a directory is easy; making a good directory is a little harder."

Brent Simmons has some advice on how to make a directory. I'm still struggling with my 300+ bookmarks (now handled with Hotlinks), and I'm always torn between having fewer, bigger, possibly meangless categories, and having more but maybe near-empty more granular ones. It's even more difficult with personal bookmarks than with a directory, since my interests evolve over time and there are categories I won't care to maintain or will drop altogether after a while.
