XDegrees Unveils Intelligent Infrastructure Services and Tools for Network Applications
They come up with eXtensible Resource Name System (XRNS), a sort of souped-up DNS for distributed web apps. They showcased an Outlook plugin at Demo 2001 (not for release). Similarly to Groove, they seem to target developers rather than develop end-user applications themselves.

09/11/02 update: they just have been acquired by Microsoft, and most of their old links are gone.
