EU Proposal Would Promote On-line Anarchy
"The proposal, known as the Rome II Green Paper, would govern non-contractual liability in disputes between an Internet marketer or publisher in one European country and a consumer or site user in another. Specifically, it would mandate that the liability laws from the consumer's nation, not that of the Internet company's home country, would apply in a dispute."

Expect more cases similar to the Yahoo! "nazi" French trial if this proposal becomes law.

09/07/01 update: Court ruling 'threatens free internet' (don't write on the web about Australians, they'll sue you for defamation).
