Microsoft, eBay Enter Internet Alliance
"The relationship could have important implications, as eBay seeks to expand its sphere of influence beyond its mainstay Internet auction site. It also represents one of the biggest endorsements to date for Microsoft's broad new Internet initiative, dubbed .NET."

Looks like big news. Don't know whether Fairmarket is part of the deal (they partnered with eBay and power MSN Auctions), and how Oracle and Sun will still be used or not at eBay. We'll see what AuctionWatch has to say.
