Scientology bought Google Adwords (French article)
I didn't find any English news source for this, so here's the story. The Church of Scientology reportedly had purchased Google Adwords that showed up when people typed "drogue" or "drogues" (French for drugs) at Google.

The MILDT (Mission interministérielle de lutte contre la drogue et la toxicomanie, a governmental agency) protested and now appears as result #1, while the Scientology ad is gone. Scientology is considered a sect here in France, while - correct me if I'm wrong - it's a religion in the US. Since Google say they can remove ads at their own discretion, it seems they decided to avoid a polemic (maybe they saw the Yahoo mess and wanted to avoid similar trouble).
