Expedia Partners with SNCF to Create French Online Travel Joint Venture

"Under this joint venture, French travellers will be able to book flights, hotels, rail and car rentals on the voyages-sncf.com Web site. The enhanced site will bring together the best of both worlds from two travel industry leaders, combining the popularity of voyages-sncf.com with the technology and expertise of Expedia [...]"

This comes as a relief since the SNCF sites rank among the less usable travel sites I ever saw, while Expedia is quite easy to use (but its UK subsidiary doesn't sell to people living in France). That's a smart way for Expedia to leverage SNCF's monopoly, and the popularity of train vs. air transport.
