Dialect Survey Maps
";[D]ialect maps, displaying what terms and pronunciations are used, and where they are used."

Fascinating for a foreigner like me. Turns out that you can call sneakers "tennis shoes" (like in French) if you don't live in the Bay area or in the northwest. Interestingly, some concepts I might have trouble translating are referred to with several words or phrases across the US (e.g. traffic circle.) Do you know what's happening when the wolf is giving birth or when the devil is beating his wife?

Update: would be nice to combine with those ancestry maps. (I didn't realize they were so many people of German ancestry in the US.)
