These sample apps are cute, but damn are they sluggish. The very simple contact manager makes Outlook (a program several orders of magnitude more complex and powerful) look blazingly fast (and a fast program it ain't, if you compare it to Excel). I guess Laszlo is still faster than the typical browser experience and all its roundtrips between client and server, but I'm not sure that trying to mimick Windows app look-and-feel is the smart thing to do. Laszlo uses Flash for client rendering, but these samples respond as slowly as client-side Java. And the marketer who came up with the "Cinematic User experience" phrase (here) should be shot.
