What’s the point of using a web API if you can’t make money with it? Isn’t this the best way to guarantee you’re not going to have much traction? I don’t get it. There’s more to web application integration than toying with gizmos in the margin of your blog.
I think (and hope) that their limitation has more to do with getting paid than preventing you. If you’re gonna make money, why shouldn’t they?
Fair enough Mark, but it just goes to show that launching an API before you even have a business model (for the API and for the human-facing site) is putting the horse before the cart, or at least asking for a big leap of faith from third-party developers.
