America Online and Cogent Communications have also been feuding over the topic, Cogent recently upgrading its fabric with AOL by consolidating several OC-3 and OC-12 connections into eight OC-48s. But apparently a new peering policy at AOL isn’t making friends; they recently informed Cogent they would have to shell out $75,000 per month just to keep this peering arrangement intact."
